In the last 12 hours, China has now been hit with a 104% tariff.
It’s important to note that the highest hit countries are predominantly sourcing countries. So once the products are exported to the US they will be hit by the duties.
Important sourcing countries include China (104%), Vietnam (46%), Bangladesh (37%) and Pakistan (30%).
What we are concerned about is what we’re calling UK washing. How and who is going to monitor which companies make here as opposed to register here? This may escalate avoidance and increase paperwork around the world.
Some brands may say they make here in the UK, but don’t. It’s why we need to incentivise ‘Made in the UK’ initiatives.
We have launched a survey to then share data and insights with the Department of Business and Trade as requested by the Secretary of State, Jonathan Reynolds MP, in the House of Commons last week when he called for evidence.
If you’re a brand and concerned about US tariffs on your business, please check this out. It’s less than 5 minutes and means that we can start collating some of this information.
